Giada Mieli was the first to use intact sericin to create a line of unique beauty products. It all started with 3,000 bars of soap.

Recovering an industrial waste by transforming it into a unique and valuable ingredient. And, to restore value to a tradition-Comas silk-which for more than a century has represented one of Europe’s manufacturing excellences. It is from here that an industrial history takes shape, one that weaves together innovation, territorial identity and capacity a new supply chain with high vision value, and that has given rise to added re in the heart of the Larian di- strait.

It all stems from the intuition of Giada Mieli, founder of J.AND.C. Cosmetici, who thought of transforming a silk protein for years eliminated during processing into an exclusive raw material for a high-end cosmetic line. Today those products can be found in Italy and abroad, at the European Institute of Oncology to the extra-luxury hotels of Lake Como, in a niche market in which the brand actually operates exclusively.

The company, which was founded as a sort of spin-off from Tintoria Pecco & Malinverno, is in fact the only one in the world to produce cosmetics with intact sericin.

It is this protein-sericin, which in the cocoon holds the silk fibers together-that is the focus of the entire project.

In traditional processing it is removed and for a long time was considered little more than waste. Giada has recognized its potential, building a new proposal around it that enhances its characteristics: sericin is naturally biocompatible, has moisturizing and soothing properties, helps maintain skin elasticity, and is also particularly suitable for sensitive or intensively treated skin.
